Raintree, also known as Samanea saman or monkeypod tree, is a large tropical tree species that belongs to the pea family (Fabaceae). Finishes
Treatment : Fine sanding
We apply multiple sanding treatments to furniture wood surface. Starting from 180-200 grit to remove visible roughness or imperfections of the wood surface, and progressively apply finer grits until the wood has a beautifully smooth surface
Color : Light tobacco woodstain
We apply a sanding sealer to our furniture before painting or staining the wood surface. The purpose is to fill and seal the pores of the wood, creating a smoother and more even surface, allowing for a smoother final finish, and prevent moisture absorption.
Clear coat : Satin
Also called egg-shel this type of clear coat provides a silky smooth finish retains its pearl-like sheen when dry, reflects more light than matte and stands up well to washing

Single block solid wood
For those of you who may curious whether is the wood kiln-dry or not, here is the answer. No! it is not kiln dried. The wood used to build our live edge furniture is not kiln dried due to the nature of the timber that contain moisture about 70%. It will take months to kiln dry it to 8% moisture contents that usually applied to teak and mahogany wood.
We made the live edge furniture out of SUAR wood, an Indonesian variant of Albizia Saman also known as raintree or monkey pod. Freshly cut suar wood contain 70-80% moisture. We dry the wood naturally by keep it in dry place for more than a year.
This has to be your consideration, most of the suar wood furniture come in thick component to avoid cracking and warping, because the wood has never reach it maximum dryness. Making top table less than 7 cm thick out of suar wood will giving cracking and warping problem in future.
