Finishes
Treatment : Fine sanding
We apply multiple sanding treatments to furniture wood surface. Starting from 180-200 grit to remove visible roughness or imperfections of the wood surface, and progressively apply finer grits until the wood has a beautifully smooth surface
Color : White paint
We apply a sanding sealer to our furniture before painting or staining the wood surface. The purpose is to fill and seal the pores of the wood, creating a smoother and more even surface, allowing for a smoother final finish, and prevent moisture absorption.
Clear coat : Satin
Also called egg-shel this type of clear coat provides a silky smooth finish retains its pearl-like sheen when dry, reflects more light than matte and stands up well to washing

Porter chair
Porter chair usually used as a gatekeeper servant chair in medieval England. It was designed to protect and keep the servant warm, high sides and backrest allowed the servant to sink back out of the wind.
The chair features a high and enclosed backrest, hooded similar to egg-shell. This hooded backrest and sides also serves to collect the sound and help the servant hearing.
Custom replica
Our recent work handcrafting a replica of the porter chair for a client in Bandung, West Java. We use mahogany wood to build the chair frame, accented with flower and foliage wood carving. crest on the top.
The chair features classic style cabriole front legs flower carving knee and scroll foot.

Finishes
After several sanding step and some treatment, the piece is painted using oil base white paint, finished with polyurethane top coat to protect the paint.
Upholstery
Fully upholstered, the backrest, sides, and hoods using foam and red fabric fastened to the chair frames using solid brass nails. We can use braided ribbon to conceal the tacks on the upholstery.
